Alicat™ Scientific Releases Extended Flow Range for Hydrogen Applications
Precise and efficient MFCs and MFMs for electrolysis and fuel cell testing with hydrogen
Tucson, Arizona – January 8th, 2024
- Hydrogen flow rates up to 12,000 SLPM
- Pressures up to 320 PSIA
- Up to 100% relative humidity, non-condensing
- Temperatures ranging from –10°C to +60°C
High flow hydrogen mass flow controller with no display from Alicat Scientific.
This high flow range boasts an accuracy of ±0.8% of reading and ±0.2% of full scale, with a measurement and control range of 0.4-100% (500:1 turndown). This extension builds upon Alicat’s existing mainline M-Series and MC-Series differential pressure (DP) flow instruments for over 98 gases with full scale flow rates from 0.5 SCCM to 5,000 SLPM.
Allie Mousseau, Alicat Scientific’s Hydrogen Market Manager, said, “Our interactive LCD screen, automation capabilities, and multivariate data reporting make this range essential for large scale test stands, R&D teams, and manufacturing facilities.”
The Alicat mainline DP mass flow line is complemented by three additional mass flow product lines:
- CODA Coriolis: measurement and control of hydrogen up to 4,000 PSIA.
- BASIS thermal: hydrogen control in OEM applications with flow rates up to 50 SLPM.
- IS-Max: intrinsically safe mass flow control and metering for explosive environments
Alicat Scientific’s mass flow instruments are typically used in conjunction with their extensive range of pressure controllers. They may control the back pressure on an electrolyser while measuring the output of an electrolyser, or provide precise and fast control in fuel cell testing. The expansion of this range underscores the demand for innovative solutions in these and other applications across the hydrogen industry.
